Have you been thinking about medical cannabis treatment, but you aren’t sure where to start? Perhaps you have questions about how medical cannabis works, or maybe you’d like to know whether it’s right for you.

At Doctors Express, our physicians would be happy to go through everything you need to know about medical cannabis. No documentation on past medical history or conditions is required in advance of your visit, so simply walk in anytime for a consultation.

Your consultation

Upon entering the facility, you will be warmly greeted by one of our highly-trained staff members who will be happy to answer any questions you might have about the process. You will be asked to check-in on our iPad kiosks, and you will need to provide identification and your health insurance details. If you do not have health insurance, don’t worry. We offer accessible, upfront cash-pay for uninsured patients.

After you have checked in, you will have a brief wait in our bright, spacious reception area where you can enjoy TV and Wi-Fi.

Next, a member of our clinical team will guide you to an exam room to take your vital signs, medical and medication history and other relevant health information in advance of your consultation with one of our physicians. Medical cannabis can interact with other medicines, so it is important to let us know of any medications you are currently taking.

Once completed, a physician will speak to you about your health condition, your symptoms and explain how medical cannabis treatment works.

Treatment plan

If the physician determines your condition is suitable for treatment with medical cannabis, they will work with you to find the best options for your care. You will also be given a special, counterfeit-resistant medical cannabis photo identification card that will clearly identify you as a medical cannabis patient for presentation to law enforcement or your employer.

Medical cannabis oil blends are available at various pharmacies on the island. However, available exclusively at our pharmacy, we have Kaiser Day’s vaporisable medical cannabis, with four effect-specific varieties of full-spectrum CBD and THC blends.

If the physician prescribes a vape product, you will have a follow-up consultation with the pharmacist, who will come to your exam room to ensure you learn how to properly care for your vape. Depending on your symptoms, you will leave with your prescription in-hand.

If treatment with medical cannabis is not appropriate, we will let you know and provide alternative suggestions.

Follow-up

At times, patients may require a follow-up with, or referral to, another specialist. If required, Doctors Express will help facilitate that process for you.

As with all our patients, you will receive a personal phone call from your attending physician a few days after your appointment to see how your treatment is coming along.

Cost and insurance

We do accept all local, private health insurances. Most do not cover medical cannabis when prescribed, however, they will usually cover the consultation.

Typically, if it is your first time at Doctors Express, the consultation cost is $42. The rest is charged to your insurance.
